HISTORY: The medieval fortified city of Carcassonne has been classified as a world heritage site, and you have the Cathar
castles of Queribus and Peyrepertuse. The beautiful 13C cathedral in Narbonne is certainly worth a visit and there are a multitiude
of churches and historic sites & Roman remains in Nimes, the famous Pont du Gard, and stunning gorges, grottoes and canyons.

WINE TASTING: The Languedoc is France's largest wine-producing region, and the well-known areas of Corbieres and Minervois
are close by. Most villages have their own cave cooperative and are delighted to offer tastings and the area of St Chinian
is well worth a visit for the beautiful scenery as well as the famous wines.

An hour away you have the grand city of Montpellier with its tall merchants houses and individual boutiques, and close by
is the bustling city of Beziers, which has a fascinating old quarter, crowned by the magnificent cathedral and full of smart
boutiques.

Here you will find a large choice of restaurants, especially around the traditional covered market, which is open daily. Beziers
has one of the best flower markets in the south, held on Fridays in the beautiful tree-lined main boulevard, also a 4 day
traditional music festival - Féria - in August.
